Coal County Jail Release Paths
Coal County Jail is the county custody point operated by the Coal County Sheriff's Office. A jail stay can end with community release on bond, recognizance, dismissal, credit for time served, completion of a local sentence, or another court order. Recognizance is release based on a promise to appear without a cash or surety bond. Time served means that the court credited the period already spent in custody toward the sentence.
Other endings do not place the person in the community. Coal County Jail may transfer someone to another county, a tribal authority, the Oklahoma Department of Corrections, a federal authority, or immigration custody. A writ is a court command that can move a person for another proceeding. A detainer is a hold or request from another authority. Both may cause Sheriff custody to end while confinement continues elsewhere.
| Coal County Jail event | What follows | Record to check |
|---|---|---|
| Bond or recognizance | Community release under court terms | Sheriff release entry and bond filing |
| Dismissal or court order | Release may be authorized once jail processing is complete | Filed order plus actual release timestamp |
| Time served or sentence complete | County confinement ends after lawful credit or completion | Judgment, jail-credit record, and release transaction |
| ODOC commitment | The person moves into state custody | Transport entry and later ODOC intake record |
| Other-agency pickup | Another county, tribal, federal, or immigration authority takes custody | Receiving-agency field and that agency's records |
Use the wording from the actual record. “Transfer” is not a synonym for community release. A release code without its legend may also mislead, so ask the records custodian to define any abbreviation or number.
Confirm Coal County Jail Releases
Three-source confirmation is the strongest local method. The Sheriff's booking-and-release entry proves the endpoint of physical county custody. The Coal County court case may explain the bond, dismissal, judgment, sentence, or order behind it. OK VINE may report a custody change and can send an alert. None of these sources should be forced to answer a question owned by another.
- Collect the full legal name, spelling variants, approximate booking dates, arresting agency, and booking or case number when known.
- Call the Coal County Sheriff's Office and ask whether the booking ended by release, transfer, or correction. Request the exact date, time, reason code, and receiving agency where public.
- Search OSCN by case number and select Coal County. Review the latest bond, order, disposition, judgment, or warrant entry.
- Use VINELink for the Oklahoma person record and check that the reporting custody agency matches.
- If the record shows ODOC transfer, allow for intake and use the official state offender lookup. Use federal or immigration systems only when the transfer record points there.
- Ask for a written Coal County Jail release record if verbal or automated information cannot establish the event.
Important: A person who disappears from a roster may have been released, transferred, corrected, suppressed, or affected by a data delay. Confirm the reason.
The full county search and records sequence is maintained on the Coal County released-inmate search. For this facility, the Sheriff's transaction remains the decisive starting point.
Coal County Jail Release Records
Coal County has not published a jail-management field dictionary. Request the actual record by name instead of assuming which screen labels exist. Useful items include the booking sheet, release screen or release-log entry, jail-register entry, bond paperwork, commitment or transport paperwork, and the booking photograph if needed. Ask for electronic copies in the existing format and request the data legend for any coded release reason.
The requested fields should connect one custody episode from beginning to end. Include full name, booking number, arrest and booking date and time, arresting agency, charges, bond entries, court or case number, release date and time, release reason or disposition code, and destination or receiving agency where public. The release timestamp proves when the Sheriff's physical custody ended. The destination helps distinguish freedom in the community from another placement.
- Release timestamp
- The recorded date and time county custody ended.
- Reason or disposition code
- The system value for the event, which should be supplied with its definition.
- Receiving agency
- The next custodian when the event was a transfer and the field is public.
- Booking number
- The identifier that prevents two jail stays from being combined.
For a one-day release log, state the exact date and request events selected by release time. For a trailing period, state both endpoints. If the agency indexes by booking date, clarify that the desired set is based on release timestamp.
Coal County Jail Contact
The official law-enforcement directory entry corroborates the Sheriff's Office address and phone. Call before a visit. The reviewed sources did not publish dedicated records-counter hours, release-processing hours, a records email address, property-pickup procedures, a fee schedule, or a suite number. Those details must come from the agency rather than a commercial directory.

Ask for the jail or records custodian. Confirm hours, delivery method, suite, and current charges.
Coal County also has no published release-processing timetable in the research. Do not promise morning, evening, weekend, or holiday release windows. A court order may authorize release before staff finish identification, hold checks, property processing, and required records work. Only the jail can state when a particular transaction was completed.
Note: The official contact evidence supports the office location and main number, not unverified lobby hours, capacity, pickup rules, or release fees.
Coal County Jail Court Trail
A Coal County District Court docket may show why a person could leave jail. Relevant entries include a bond filing or reduction, recognizance order, dismissal, acquittal, plea, judgment and sentence, suspended sentence, deferred disposition, credit for time served, warrant, or completion event. “Disposed” does not always mean conviction, and it does not establish release on that same day.
OSCN warns that its online display is not the official record. The Coal County Court Clerk keeps permanent District Court proceeding records and supplies official or certified copies. The clerk's office is at 4 N. Main, Coalgate, OK 74538, with telephone 580-927-2281. The county page lists general office hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; confirm the day and holiday schedule before going.
A docket order and the jail release record work together. The order supplies the legal context. The Sheriff's timestamp shows when county custody actually ended. Another warrant or hold can prevent community release even when one case is dismissed or its bond changes, so check all known case numbers.
Coal County Jail Transfer Outcomes
An ODOC commitment is a common source of confusion. A person can leave Coal County Jail in transport and enter state custody without a community release between the two. Once ODOC accepts the person, its statewide record becomes more useful than the old county status. Search by ODOC number when possible, and read “incarcerated,” “parole,” “probation,” “discharged,” or any location label exactly as shown.
A federal writ or warrant creates another route. The U.S. Marshals manage federal pretrial prisoners and transport but do not maintain a public historical locator like BOP. A county entry that names the Marshals should be followed through the Eastern District of Oklahoma federal case and the responsible Marshals office. BOP Locator fits only when the person entered BOP custody.
If the Coal County Jail record says the person was released to ICE, the county timestamp closes only the county segment. The ICE locator focuses on current immigration detention. A later no-result response does not prove community release. Ask ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations for lawful clarification, and do not infer a destination from silence.
The same rule applies to another county or tribal authority. Obtain the receiving agency's name, then use that custodian's record. Repeatedly searching Coal County cannot establish what happened after its legal control ended.
Coal County Jail Online Limits
No verified official Coal County Jail inmate search, booking archive, recent-release tab, 24-hour list, or 72-hour list was found as of the research date. The sweep also found no verified official Sheriff mobile app or county-linked social feed serving as a release archive. Therefore, there is no official online field set, photo policy, update schedule, or retention window to describe.
Commercial pages that claim to cover the jail are not substitutes. Several reviewed during research showed generic text, suspect details, or unverified domains and hours. A missing name on such a page proves nothing about Coal County Jail custody. Direct Sheriff contact, a written release entry, OK VINE, and the court case are the defensible routes.
If an official roster appears later, it will answer who is shown in custody at that moment. It will not automatically become a historical release archive. Confirm its operator, update cadence, event labels, and retention before relying on it for a past release.
Coal County Jail Record Limits
The Oklahoma Open Records Act, Title 51 §§24A.1 and following, favors public access while allowing exemptions and restrictions found in law. A booking or release entry may be open in whole or part without making every jail field public. Juvenile, medical, victim, security, investigative, sealed, and expunged material may be restricted.
Coal County did not publish a dedicated Sheriff form, fee schedule, or universal response time in the sources reviewed. Start by asking the records custodian for the preferred submission method. Request an electronic copy, ask for an estimate before costs exceed a limit, and seek the cited legal basis for any withheld field. Oklahoma permits reasonable copy fees and certain search charges, but another state office's fee schedule is not the Sheriff's schedule.
No official source states how long a former Coal County Jail booking remains online because no official archive was found. That is not proof the agency deleted the record. Ask which state retention schedule and record series apply. A sealed or expunged record may also stop appearing publicly, so an empty search result should not be treated as a factual denial of the original event.
